And so it goes . . .

I spent last weekend with my BFF's. We went to the big city and had big fun! We ate, we drank, we shopped, we laughed, we hugged. There were many cups of coffee drank, as well as a margarita and a beer or two, and a bottle of wine while sitting in the jacuzzi. We partook of omelets and crab legs and enchiladas and even tiramisu and gelato. We were successful on our quest for new fall jackets and sweaters, and didn't forget our husbands and grandkids for whom we found special treasures. And we bought books - we always buy books - and we even spent a teeny bit of quiet time reading. And we missed the two BFF's that weren't there.

Then we were wowed by The Phantom! It was the perfect show to see on Halloween. And I got to cross off one more thing on my bucket list.

Last Friday marked 20 years at my job. It is quite an accomplishment, if I do say so myself. :) And now I'm one week into year 21.

My son, J, comes home tonight for vacation. He comes home about this time every year to deer hunt. I last saw him in June, and I can't wait to give him a big hug. I wish j was coming too, but I'll just have to plan another trip to visit them soon.

Tomorrow night after work, I'm picking up my granddaughter and we're having a slumber party. She's excited because she knows I brought her a present from my trip (a snowglobe). She'll spend part of the day Friday with me, and I think we'll go to the garden center and get some flowers to plant.

On Saturday afternoon, there is a baby shower for the daughter of one of my BFF's. This will be granddaughter number two for her. Four out of the six of us have grandbabies (two boys and soon to be four girls, the oldest of which is 3), and the youngest one of us has a baby of her own who is not quite a year old. Needless to say, our conversations often start out with, "You wouldn't believe what j did! It was so cute!" And of course we always have new photos to share. Ah, babies . . . such sweetness.

Here's hoping there's abundant sweetness in your life this week.

Molly's Meme - my turn

Julochka said, "tag! you're it" after she responded to Molly's Meme. And since memes are kind of fun, and relatively easy, this is perfect for a Saturday night that's getting kind of late.

Like some of the others who've memed before me, my favorites in any category can, and do, change from time to time. So for now . . .

5'ish favorite songs:

1. "Never Surrender" by Corey Hart (like Julie had a special song, this is a song that got me through a hard time)
2. "Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane
3. "Samba pa Ti" by Santana
4. "Caoineadh Cu Chulainn" by Davey Spillane (from the Riverdance CD)
5. "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry (current, may change next week)

5'ish favorite films:

1. "Rocket Gibralter" (with Burt Lancaster & McCauley Caulkin pre Home Alone)
2. "Top Gun" (I feel the need, the need for . . . )
3. "Pride and Prejudice" (I'll take Matthew MacFadyen for my Mr. Darcy please)
4. "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" (another Matthew)
5. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"

5'ish favorite books:

1. "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach
2. the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer (don't roll your eyes; I told you I had a teenage heart.)
3. "Roget's Thesaurus" (I know that sounds kind of weird, but I've always had one since I was a kid and I just love it.)
4. "A Year by the Sea" by Joan Anderson
5. The Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson (current - will change when I've finished them all. currently on number 4.)

5'ish favorite crushes:

1. Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon's character on NCIS. Smooth . . . )
2. Kevin James (aka Paul Blart Mall Cop, et al)
3. Matthew Goode
4. Bradley Cooper

5'ish favorite things to eat:

1. cheese
2. creme brulee
3. coffee cake
4. salted cashews (but I can't eat as many of them as often as I'd like; too many bother my tummy)
5. pierogi (with sour cream), gyoza, ravioli - any little filled dumpling-like morsel.

And I will, in turn, tag a few others:

Kiki (Kiki, if you have the time.)
Tracy
femminismo
Candace

Now, what are the ladies at Blog Camp up to?

Wreck This Journal

Where to begin in this book? This is not a serious question, as I know there are no rules and we can begin anywhere we want to. But I am one who can get overwhelmed with too many choices. Thirty one flavors? What? I'll have vanilla.

There are a couple of pages that will be no-brainers for me. (I can write backwards as easily as I can write forwards. Perhaps i should try vlogging that?) And I admit that I've already done one page - writing a single word over and over again. But I think I know which page I'll do first. Isn't there a page where you're supposed to put it under your pillow and sleep on it? Isn't it in the back of the book somewhere? After all that dropping and dragging and burning and staining? Gross! I'm sleeping on it tonight! ;)

Go here for other "wreckers."

Happy wrecking!
