Happy New Month! This Month's Intention

Happy New Month!

I'm not a great fan of New Year's resolutions. Unless I resolve to eat ice cream three times a week, and skip exercising except for on rainy days (very seldom where I live!), it seems like I'm just setting myself up for failure.

I do, however, like the idea of having goals - having something to strive for in the short term. An opportunity for improvement, no matter how small.

Intentions seem to fit me better. It's kind of like saying, "I'll try to," instead of, "I promise to." And there's a whole lot less guilt involved when not following through.

And how practical is it to set your intentions once a year? Not very! So I decided some time ago to celebrate the start of every New Month, instead of every New Year.

This month's intention - to send at least one greeting card, a simple "hello, I'm thinking of you," to each of my friends. E-mail is fine, but I know how much I love it when I receive an actual card or letter in the mail, something that I can actually hold in my hand. I know that the person that sent it to me touched it and held it in their hands. Their love has seeped into the fibers of the paper and I can feel it. And I can carry it with me and read it over and over again. And I can put it under my pillow at night and keep it close to me. I'm not sure if my friends get so crazy over any particular card or letter that they receive, but they might.

  1. I love the idea of a monthly resolution. Ive never really thouhgt of that? A year is probably lost in the first month, but a month is a more realistic/non forgetable goal. Im going to have to try that one!!!
